About the mineral: Citrine is the yellow to golden variety of quartz and consists of silicon dioxide, SiO₂. Naturally formed citrine is relatively rare and much of the citrine on the market is amethyst or smoky quartz that has been heat-treated to obtain a yellow to orange color. The treatment changes the color but the material is still quartz.
Color, transparency and natural variations differ from stone to stone.
